About Artist: About Chloe Iza Manasseh My interests primarily lie in the notion of perception of space; how orientation, movement and balance within a space effect spectatorship, and the role memory plays in activating a spectators senses. Ideas of walking and looking up in a landscape are key to how I perceive a space, sometimes leaving the work in a vertiginous state, with sensations of being overwhelmed and off balance. The engagement of the body is also present, and central in both the making and viewing of my work. The ever-changing relationship between the spectator and the maker results in a shifting connection between ideas of home, displacement, space and location. Physical spectatorship acts as an activation point and is integral to pushing the work beyond its materiality feeding awareness of the present, the past and the fluctuating reality of ones own perception of space. By embodying a psychological state of identity in landscape, I explore the boundaries between the reality and unreality of ones perception.
