About Artist: Christopher Wool (1955--) is a Neo-Pop painter born in Chicago. He is noted for his paintings featuring large, black, stenciled lettering on a white background. He also creates work in a variety of other styles e.g. spray paint and silkscreen prints. After seeing a new white truck defaced with the words "sex" and "luv" Wool was inspired and began to use sentiments of this kind in his work. He currently lives and works in New York; a retrospective of his work was shown at the Museum of Contemporary art in Los Angelas, the exhibition then moved to the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh and Kunsthalle Basel in Switzerland.
