About Artist: Micah Schwaberow was born in Eugene, Oregon and currently resides In Santa Rosa, California. The rolling hillsides, cloudscapes and coastline of Sonoma County are a major motif in his woodcuts. Micah learned the art of Japanese woodblock art during a year working in the atelier of Toshi Yoshida, one of Japan's foremost masters in the technique.Micah Schwaberow focused on graphics. At the studio of Toshi Yoshida he learned all about traditional Japanese woodblock printing methods. At Elizabeth Quandt-Barr's he addressed himself to other print techniques as well as at Maury Lapp's - both in California - to artistic painting. Additionally Micah Schwaberow created esthetic gourd vessels. Much of his paper work, mainly the woodblock prints, appeared in some precious editions of typographic books. The book "Tuolumne, Book I" received highest award during some festivities at Yosemite National Park.
