About Artist: Maria Rivans is a UK artist, living and working in Brighton. Graduating from Brighton Art College in 1986 with a BA(Hons) in 3-Dimensional Design, she is best known for her intricate, humorous and eye-popping surreal Landscape, Portrait and 3D collages. Maria exhibits widely across the UK as well as overseas including New York and Singapore. In 2010 she was a finalist in the Aesthetica Creative Works competition. Her work has been featured in The FinancialTimes, The Times Sunday Culture Magazine, The Evening Standard, Time Out and Artist & Illustrator Magazine. She currently has work permanently on display at Ink-d Gallery, Hill & Hill Gallery and The Drang Gallery. Liberty Gallery and Cube Gallery show Maria's work across the UK and Internationally. Maria’s collages are works of her very personal vision commenting on this world of change, beauty, diversity and mystery. They explore the idea of existing alternate realities and fantastical other worlds which transport us into a surreal and exciting universe. The sometimes heavily populated cityscapes where gigantic exotic flora unexpectedly rise above the horizon and colonies happily live alongside animals, celebrate the hugeness and wonder of life.
